Fading ideals and industrial decline shaped Nowa Huta, an old industrial neighborhood in southern Poland. Returning to the place where he grew up, Kucharski reflects on the boyhood he observed from the sidelines rather than fully experienced. Through staged scenes and conversations with locals, he blends personal stories with collective memories, capturing tensions between past dreams and an uncertain future. By creating this idealized portrait of his old home, influenced by archetypes of romanticized violence, he seeks to understand his detachment from the neighborhood’s identity and the forces that shaped his generation.
