A man owns the last farm with chickens in the city. It is located in an area full of nature that is slowly disappearing to make way for the new neighbourhood and restaurants. When I met him, he was worried that he would lose his home and the animals. However, the fact that he has these animals is making it harder for the city to take his property. The average lifespan of a chicken is 5-10 years and that’s exactly when most of the changes in the area happened.
In this video work, I am focusing on the feeling of losing, but also on the barriers that can save this man from that fate. The chickens have become this barrier, without being aware of it. The work is based on an interview I conducted with the owner of this small farm. His descriptive way of telling stories to communicate his feelings toward the place inspired the narration of the film.
